I work at a daycare, and at times, those children are a handful. I’m looking for ways to get them to quiet down for a few minutes, or to be entertained. I’m mostly interested in simple card or “magic” tricks that I know they would love. Basically, any ideas would help.

magic tricks will only last so long and they’re not always easy to do

i would find some good group activities
that way there’s not a singled one that wanders off
try making a fun charades game with popular kid-friendly characters
or teaching them to make a non-cooked food
the food making will be something they will be active in
feel involved in
be proud of
and get a reward to see their efforts in

movies
story telling with picture books (unless they’re too old)
u can even try looking up some common stories most people know online to tell urself
act out each character and give each a personality

try setting up a clue game
like if u have a stuffed animal that’s popular that everyone can recognize
hide it
and tell them snuggles (or whatever) has gone missing and u need to work together to find it
make-up clever witty ransom notes or clues or whatever to keep em occupied

i don’t know how old they are so maybe half of these will work?

take guar gum dissolve it in H2O then dissolve borax in H2O. Mix the two together to make slime. Guar gum and borax are available in the grocery store.

A simple tip before any card trick is to dazzle the audience with crazy shuffling skills. Shuffle two to three times with different shuffles it makes you look like a pro at with cards. You can spread out the cards with your hand on a table and flip the first one and you have a domino effect repeat this twice and swiftly bring the cards together in a neat deck. Then do the bridge and ear shuffle. If this is done very quickly it looks like your a professional dealer!

Question by swalker5037: Does anyone know any good do-it-yourself illusions? (Preferably relatively simple, easy to learn tricks.)?
My cousin is 15 and has been greatly inspired by Chris Angel and other illusionists. He is getting very good at slight of hand, performing coin and card tricks, and also a minor levitation. He performed for me yesterday and I was very impressed, but he is looking to expand his repitoire. (He says he is interested in performing at birthday parties, graduations, etc. but wants to have at least a 30 minute show consisting of various illusions.

if anyone knows of any interesting magic tricks or illusions, or any websites with suggestions, tips, or instructions, i would love the input. I’ll forward it along to my cousin, and when he gets famous, I’ll send you his autograph!!!

My dad once took the tip of his thumb off and instantly stuck it back on again. But I can’t tell you how he did it.
I can full a fuzz ball out of a hat though!

Here are three simple coin tricks to add to your collection of magic. They don’t take long to learn, they don’t need many special props and with a bit of practice they can amuse and delight people wherever you go.

Coin Trick 1: Money Making Magic

Your hands are empty and there are three coins on the table. You sweep the coins off the edge of the table and into your hand. When you open your hand, there are five coins instead of three.

The Secret: Before you begin, stick two coins to the underside of the table at the edge where you plan to do the trick. When you sweep the coins off the table with your right hand, detach the other two coins with your left hand. When you open your left hand, the three coins will have magically increased to five. Simple Card Tricks

Ever wonder how a wizard manages to raise a card from a deck of cards? Or balancing a pitcher of water on top a deck of cards? Or balance a card on your hand? These are simple card tricks to learn that is bound to electrify your friends.

Lets begin with the raising of a card, which is one of the most simple card tricks out there. There are two ways to confederate this ; one is with a gaffed deck of cards or spur of the moment. How this suppose to look like is the card that a audience member picked out, memorized and or signed rises out of the deck. Be certain to put the cards either back in the case or against glass. This is so that they can see that you aren’t touching the cards.

How to prepare for this actual trick involves if you choose to use a gaffed deck ; is to take a small portion of the deck and string them together. To try this to put a thin pulley which has been weighted, inside them. To make the pulley system is composed of’double sided sticky tape’ being attached. This is so that when you as the wizard turn the cards upside over, causes the weight to fall causing the card to raise.

there is an alternate version of this simple card trick using just elastic. The elastic must be white or if not elastic a chunk of old clothing. You may have to trim the piece of elastic ; just take a couple of scissors and fray the elastic, removing the individual strings. Alternate material would be white rubber bands, which you’ll once more have to trim. Of course if you rather not do the prep work yourself you might purchase a prepared made gaffed deck just for this trick.

Tip : It is advised to use the jokers to save your deck of cards for this simple card trick. Just put one face up and one face down then using the sticky tape tape the elastic to the jokers. Just do yourself a favor don’t use too much tape, the audience may see the tape.

To set this trick up place a face up card like the 5 of hearts so that the audience can see then place it in the middle of the deck. Show the bottom card then place the card that is taped on the bottom then the top card over the taped card, ensure that the cards stick. Another trick to this one is to chop out a triangle in the case so you may use a finger to raise the chosen card by pushing it up.

Slowly loosen your grip on the cards the card should raise. Like each trick practice is the key.
Tip : When practicing employ a mirror to observe yourself. This is to confirm no one will see what you are doing.

the next of the simple card tricks for beginners involves an ordinary glass and deck of cards. To start the trick ask an audience member to claim stop, when they do, take away the card that was stopped at, show it from each angle then balance the empty or full glass on the card.

To set this trick up will take some preparation. Take any card and a joker out of the deck. Folding the joker length wise so that the card halves are back to back, use the double side tape or a little of glue on the face of one side, then press the sides together for an actual fit.

Then thoroughly press the joker’s face to back of the deck. Casually hold the cards, show both sides of the cards, in the meantime pinch the open side of the cards together so it appears to be ordinary. Meanwhile take any opportunely to unfold the joker’s back, this is so it can be the stand for the glass. Be wary of the glass’s weight since the card can hold a limited weight.

to set up the trick you need to place the card which has been prepared in the center of the deck. Liquid stops the fans from seeing the stand.

The above simple card tricks like any other trick takes a bit of practice. But it is actually worth the effort and time if you’d like to drag these simple card tricks off impressively.
