It’s hard to answer without knowing what kind of magic you already do and what you think is so bad about the tricks you’ve found. I do a trick that used to be performed by Harry Blackstone Sr called King Solomon’s Wedding Bands. It works for me because of the character I portray on stage. My writing partner can do the mechanics of the trick, but it isn’t a good trick for him.

If you’re really into magic, I would getting into books. In books you’ll find all kinds of material which is different from what’s on the current websites. You can find books on how to do magic in section 793.8 of libraries using the Dewey decimal system. Otherwise, ask the librarian where to find the books.

Some of the books you might be interested in are:

Harlan Tarbell Course in Magic — there are 8 books full of tricks.
Mark Wilson Complete Course in Magic — one volume with lots of variety
Karl Fulves Self Working Magic — many books, each with a different kind of magic — card, coins, ropes, etc.
Bill Tarr’s Now You See It

If you’re really interested in magic, you might also try to find the website for a local magic club. The two I would start with are the International Brotherhood of Magicians, and (if in the USA) the Society of American Magicians. Find their websites. Each has a section on where and when they have meetings. There is nothing better than learning magic from people who’ve been studying it for years, and who can help you out.
