Ah, magic tricks is a great hobby of mine. I love when people go “Wow! Omg, how did you do that?!” Haha. Ahem… anyway. I prefer card magic so I think I’ll teach you a card trick. (Also, you should go on youtube and watch some David Blaine Street Magic clips, he’s really good!)

First you prestack the deck like this:
Top of the Deck:
Queen of Hearts
Ace of Spades
Queen of Diamonds

Bottom:
Ace of Clubs

1. First you hold the deck in face down and flip over the top card to show the Queen of Hearts and make a note of it. Then flip it back down.
2. You tell them to make a fist where their thumb rests on top of your index finger. (Like the hand thing George Bush does when he’s giving a speech)
3. You take the Queen of Hearts off the deck and tell them to clip the card with their thumb and index finger so it’s parallel to the ground.
4. When they have it, you have to prepare for a double lift. (When you pick up 2 cards as one)
5. You then ask “What card do you have”. They’ll give their guess and after you tell them to check. They will see it’s the Queen of Hearts.
6. You flip over the double lifted card to show the queen of diamonds with the ace of spades hidden under it. You asked them what card that is and then flip it back face down on top of the deck.
7. You take the top card (ace of spades) face down and say “Watch, I’m gonna switch the cards so fast, you wont even see it”.
8. Take the ace of spades, still faced down, and kinda jab it between the “victims” thumb and the card they are holding. (Don’t let go)
9. You say “See, you have the card back again” They will turn their hand over to check again and then have a face kind of like. -.-lll. But it’s okay if they don’t check
10. You then say “Watch, I’ll show you how I do it”. You take the face down Ace of spades and line it up over the card they are hold and then take the bottom one.
11. Take it and turn it face up over the the “victims” hand (to stop him/her from looking at the card you gave them) and say “See, now I have the queen of hearts.”
12. Face the Queen of hearts down and do the little jab we did in Step 8 again.
13. Now say “Without looking, what card do you think you have in your hand”
14. When they are talking and looking at you, slyly switch the queen in your hand with the card on the bottom of the deck (Ace of Clubs) and then put it over the card they are holding.
15. They will answer “Queen of Diamonds”.
16. You then ask “Would you be impressed if I switch the order of the cards?”
17. They will answer.
18. You will then act mysterious and wave your hand over the 2 face down cards and then tell him/her to flip them over,
19. To their amazement, they will be holding 2 aces.
20. If they start screaming and freaking out, let them, keep your mouth closed so the drama builds.

Yah, that’s a trick I learned from watching David Blaine on Youtube. It’s a good trick and you will get a good scream out of it. I can’t stress how much you should practice your double lifts, switches, and dialogue. Practice makes perfect. I hope my explanation was detailed enough. If you have any questions, e-mail me and I will post a tutorial on youtube or something. Okay, my fingers hurt now so… good luck and have fun with it! ^^

Card tricks?

Question by : Card tricks?
What are some good card tricks? What web sites can teach me?

Best answer:

Answer by Ghost_Rider
Here’s one of my favorite Card Tricks:

1. Deal three piles of cards, face down, until you have seven in each pile. Set aside the rest of the deck.
Note: This trick only works if you deal three piles at a time, instead of dealing one pile of seven following by another two piles of seven.
2. Ask someone to pick one of the piles
3. Display the chosen cards in a fan to your volunteer. Ask your volunteer to choose a card but not to tell you what is is.
4. Gather up the cards and put the pile containing the chosen card in between the other two piles.Deal the cards in the same way again into three piles of seven.
5. Pick up one pile at a time and display them to the volunteer, asking him to identify the pile which contains his card.
6. Once again, put this pile between the other two, and deal out the cards into three piles.
7. Fan out the cards for a third time. Ask the volunteer to identify the pile containing his card, then put this pile between the other two.
8. Solemnly spell out the word ABRACADABRA, dealing one card for each of the letters spoken out loud. Turn over the final card to show it is the chosen one!

From my own experience, though, I’d recommend not spelling ABRACADABRA out loud, instead spell it in your mind.

Deck of cards have the other take one. Be sure you know the bottom card of the deck. Lay the top half of the deck on the table and have the other put the card on top of this. Put the bottom half of te deck on top and tell the other to cut the cards three times. Pick up the deck and face up look for the card you knew was on the bottom and the card the other had will be the one just before it. No not 100 percent but well over 90. so givbe it a try.

Q&A: Magic Tricks?

Card Trick 1
Thanks so much to Rita for sending this in!!

Effect:
The magician has three rows of cards. An audience volunteer picks a card in his/her head and tells the magician what row it’s in. The magician does that three times and on the third time tells the volunteer what their card was. (or have the magic puppet whisper to you what the card was and then you tell the audience what the puppet said.)

Supplies:
21 cards, all different

Secret:
First lay out the cards, 3 across and 7 down.

Have someone think of a card and tell you what row its in.

Pick up all the rows, row by row, making sure to pick up the row that the card is in 2nd.

EXAMPLE: Let’s assume the volunteer secretly chose PINK-6 and then told us their card was in the second row. We would pick up the rows and we would make sure the pink row was picked up second so that it was in the middle of the deck.

——————————————————————————–

Then lay out the cards again (the exact same way, 3 across & 7 down).
Put down one card per row.

Ex: First do this *** (let’s pretend the stars are cards).
Then this: *** and so on (7 times).
In our example, we’d put down BLUE-1, BLUE-2, BLUE-3 then go down to the next row and place BLUE-4, BLUE-5, BLUE-6 and so on.

Then ask the volunteer where the card is in now.

Pick up the rows again, like before — still making sure that you pick up the row that the card is in 2nd.

In our example, the volunteer would say their card was in the first row. You would make sure that row was in the middle of the deck

——————————————————————————–

Lay them out again, the same way.
Then ask the volunteer which row the card is in now.
(You can get dramatic and tell them to think really hard about it… pretend to be reading their mind)

Then count four cards down in that row.
(It appears more magical if you count to yourself… people won’t realize you’re counting four cards down).

The fourth card is their card!!

In our example, the volunteer would have said their card was in the last row. Four cards down is PINK-6!

MAGIC!

——————————————————————————–
Danny offered this variation to make the trick harder to figure out. He wrote:
“I would like to offer an extra solution for magic trick number 1. In this one you lay down 3 columns with 7 cards. And the spectator picks a card. The thing is, that it can become obvious that your always taking the one with the card in it, SECOND. So to ”hide it” you can do this. Do the 1st phase of it, Now RANDOMLY take each column. and lay them down in the way of phase 2. Now there are 2 columns with 2 cards, and 1 column with 3 cards (those cards I mention are those that were located in the chosen column). Now all you do is gotta remember the cards in the column they choose. And then lay them out THAT way again (or reversed, going from left to right instead of right to left.) And then those cards will be split apart, so you can still magically get the right card, but the trick is harder to guess.”

——————————————————————————–

Donna provided us with an alternative ending to this card trick:

“Proceed with trick up to the 3rd layout. You know the card is the 4th card in the row so continue to put the rows together — still with the selected row in the center. This will make ‘the card’ the 11th card.

Face down, place the cards into flower groups of 4 or 5 cards per group (you should get about 5 flower groups) — but remember which card is the 11th (this is the selected card). Ask the person to pick 2 (or however many you want) groups .. when they do, take away those groups BUT if the selected card is in that group, you leave those groups and take away the others. Continue until you only have the 1 remaining flower group containing the selected card and lay these cards out side by side and still face down (remembering where the selected card is).
Ask the person to select 2 cards (as with the flowers, & remembering where the card is), and again, if they pick 2 and one of these is the selected cards, remove the other cards leaving those 2. Ask them to pick 1 card .. if they pick the selected card .. remove the other or vise versa so that the remaining cards will always the selected card. Turn over the remaining cards and ‘vola’.

They told you what flowers or cards to take away so they are even more amazed when the correct card turns up.”

Magic Bottle Trick
Thanks so much to Shelly for sending this in!!

Effect:
The magician asks for a volunteer from the audience who looks inside a bottle to make sure it’s a normal, empty container.

The volunteer returns the bottle and then examines a magic wand to ensure it is normal.

The magician drops the wand into the bottle (noting how easily it falls in).

He/she turns bottle over and lets go of the wand.

The wand magically remains suspended in the bottle.

Supplies:
~a magic wand (could use a pencil instead) that is taller than the bottle (when you drop the wand into the bottle, part of it should still be sticking up through the opening.
~a bottle that has an opening large enough to fit the wand in (but not too big). The bottle cannot be see-through
~an eraser

If you don’t have a bottle that is dark, you can put some dark paint inside the bottle and shake it around so the inside is painted.

Cut a piece off the eraser, just large enough to wedge the wand into the opening of the bottle. The eraser is what makes the trick work!

Secret:
Pass the bottle to the volunteer and ask them to make sure its empty.

Take back the bottle and give your friend the wand. Meanwhile, slip the piece of eraser into the bottle without anyone seeing (you can have it in your pocket until this point). You’ll need to practice this a few times.

Take the wand back and drop it into the bottle.

Pick up the wand and bottle and turn them VERY SLOWLY upside down (mumble all sorts of enchantments while you’re doing this). Pull on the wand slightly when the bottle is turning over so the piece of eraser gets wedged into the opening (you’ll need to practice this a few times too).

Let go of the wand… PRESTO! It doesn’t fall out.

Slowly turn upright again. Let go of everything and PRESTO the wand remains suspended in the bottle (it doesn’t fall back down).

To remove the wand, push it slightly to release the rubber and then take it out.

Magic tricks?

Question by kevin_rarick: Magic tricks?
Magic seems to be making a resurgence with the likes of David Blaine and others. Their magic is a closely guarded secret but some of the stunts are really interesting and hard to figure out how they are done. For example when David Blaine levitates in front of people on a boardwalk or when he throws the deck of cards against a window and the persons card sticks to the window but on the inside. Really cool stuff. Is there any place to find out how these tricks are done or theories on how they are done?

Best answer:

Answer by lorddonk
I am a fan of Criss Angel. I still cannot believe how he walked through a window in one episode.

The truth is a lot of this stuff is really set-up and/or camera tricks. EVEN WHEN THEY SAY ITS NOT, they are just saying that to get you to keep watching.

It’s great to believe the stuff but until you’ve seen it live on your own, you’ve got to admit the fact that its possibly set-up.
